0845 0500 886 Use
this number to make bids or to check on
prices after the auction – or any time you want to speak to us – from
anywhere
in the UK for the cost of a local rate phone call.
€uro Currency; We are happy to accept
Euro cash payments in our shop. We display our rate beside the counter.
We
normally allow the market rate rounded down to the next whole penny.
For
example, at the time of writing, the market rate is 0.7928, so we are
allowing
79p per Euro (which is probably better than your bank will give you).
You can
also pay for auction lots in Euro banknotes (postal customers please
confirm
before sending). We also accept payments in our shop in Euros, and we
buy the
old “legacy” currencies, as well as other coins and notes.
Most
auctions include a few lots which, due to their large size or weight
compared
to value, will not be taken to the auction venue. They must therefore
be viewed
at our shop during the previous week, and successful purchasers will be
responsible for their collection from us. The symbol for these is “ Ä”, and very generally speaking,
there's a cut-off
point of about £2 or £3 estimate per kilo weight.
If you attend the auction and buy any of these lots, you can either
call at the
shop during normal opening hours, or it is sometimes possible to
arrange to
pick up after the auction has finished (though please first speak to
Mr. Murray
to arrange this).
There's a head
of steam building up of demand for another series of our popular stamp
workshops. Our apologies for not having had anything for a while due to
other
pressures, but it is our definite intention to have a new batch of
classes
perhaps about September. Keep in touch - and if you have any areas that
you
would like to see covered, please feel free to suggest them.
For those of you who don’t already know, Mike Humphries will be
retiring at the end of July. I know he’ll be missed in the shop and at
the
auctions, and hope that customers will find the time to have a few
words with
him before he goes.
This auction has material belonging to 56 different vendors.
Following last
month’s note that mentioned that Adrienne Murray was running the
Edinburgh
Marathon, and looking for sponsorship, here’s a note from her; “It was a memorable day and Adrienne ran the
Marathon in a personal best time of 4hrs 39mins 09secs, raising nearly
£1,000
for Cancer Research UK in memory of her mum. She would like to thank
the many
people who were incredibly kind and generous in their sponsorship. You
know who
you are.”
Adrienne’s
online
sponsorship page is still open at www.runningsponsorme.org/adriennemurray1

possible,
but do sometimes
change if circumstances make it desirable.)
Up to £20, bids are in £1 steps.
From £20 to £30, bids are in £2 steps.
>From £30 to £50, bids are in £2 or £3 steps

be used
by room purchasers (who pay their accounts at the auction), by other
local
customers (who pay their bill in our shop), and by postal buyers.
In order to deal with postal clients, our bid forms have been designed
to make
space for credit card instructions.
If you want your purchases charged in this way, please complete the
appropriate

given after
posting, we will charge 1.9% extra
(Visa/MasterCard) or 18p (Maestro
and Delta), plus cost of posting receipt slip.
