The figure at the end of each description is our estimate, in pounds sterling. Bids are accepted above or below this figure, although bids below about 75% or 80% estimate only have a tiny chance of success. Estimates are in Pounds Sterling do not include the 10% buyer's premium.
After the main listings you will find various information and instructions. This is followed by a sample bid form, and a copy of the the notes that appear on the reverse of our bid forms.
This is a public auction, in which written/telephone/e-mail bids are also accepted. If you are bidding with us for the first time, please bid by two of these methods with the same bids (e.g. by post and by phone, or by telephone and by e-mail), or bid in good enough time for us to get back in touch with you with any queries.

Collections
and Mixed Lots.
1 Extensive
world accumulation in two cartons, in biscuit tins and plastic tubs.
Although
the
bulk is large quantities of cheaper stamps and duplicates
(usually sorted by country or area),
we note a few UK booklets, and others that may be items intended
for inclusion in a main
collection but still to be added. Many 1,000s. Estimate is a
guess. þ
.. £300.
2 Box
with modern but useful accum. of often larger items
(sheets/sheetlets/m.s./booklets/
packs, etc.) inc. USA, Channel Is., IoM, UK, Australia, etc. –

box, but with quite decent
quality contents. Much European, and with lots of
stamps/items cat. at least a few pounds
each. Noted are Germany, Canada (inc. Newfound-
land), France, Alderney, Switzerland,
Algeria, etc. (100s) þ

19th Century issues with
some later additions. Includes two reasonable UK penny blacks,
better Norway, German
States and other European, some Commonwealth and Overseas.
(1,116)
..
£120.
6 Accumulation
and remainders from a much larger collection, all in one carton. Due to
the
original source, we guess this is worth checking – some UK pmk.

etc. (1,000s) þ £120.
7 Two

box with mixed stamps on
stockcards, a bundle of unsold Buy or Bid lots

“Collectables” section under our new system. Instead of having a small
non-
philatelic section in every
stamp sale, and an annual dedicated Collectables Auction, there is
a section like this
appearing approximately quarterly. There will still be some non-stamp
lots
in the normal stamp
auctions.
Ü
Anybody not interested in
the following Collectables section can safely leave the auction
room (to look
at the Buy or
Bid Sale, or go upstairs to the bar). There will be a short break at
the end of the
non-philatelic lots, during which we will give warning of the
resumption of
stamp lots.

Tuck's Oilettes; the following
section of 14 lots is all part of one very extensive collection,
of which this is not yet the whole (a further section will
possibly appear in our next
Collectables in December). These were collected assiduously over
many years, and some
cards though quite unassuming are actually quite scarce.
The collection is arranged
in albums according to series number. Each card appears to have
been mounted by the use of four double-sided self-adhesive tabs
on the back. This has left
problems in the removal of cards from pages. We have tried
several; some tabs detach easily
and cleanly (leaving little or no trace), some seem to be stuck
solidly and immovably, but
most are between these extremes (coming off with care, and often
taking some of the surface
off the card's reverse, to a greater or lesser extent). If
viewing these lots, please do not carry
out your own experiments !
We will be happy to explain and demonstrate.
Descriptions give the volume
numbers, range of series numbers covered, approximate
number of cards, and sometimes some interesting contents.
