“Collectables”
(Non-Philatelic Items)
Ü
This is the first “Collectables” section
under our new system. Instead of having a small
non-philatelic section in every stamp sale,
and an annual dedicated Collectables Auction,
there will be a section like this appearing
approximately quarterly. There will probably still
be the odd lot of non-stamp items in the
stamp auctions.
Ü
Anybody
not interested in the following Collectables section can safely
leave the
auction
room (to look at the Buy or Bid Sale, or go
upstairs to the bar). There will be a short break
at the end of the non-philatelic lots,
during which we will give warning of the resumption
of stamp lots.

1970s) of stamp miniature sheets (20) and

than one person. Some famous names include Armstrong,

886 Use this number to make bids
or to check on prices after the auction – or any time you want to speak
to us –
from anywhere in the UK for the cost of a local rate phone call.
We can now also
be contacted on “Skype” (the
internet service/programme whereby users can speak to each other
worldwide
free). At the moment we anticipate that this might be used most by
customers
overseas who make an appointment with us in advance (perhaps by email),
but it
will be interesting to see how this service develops. Our Skype name is
“stampshop”.
We try to confirm receipt of
email bids within 24 hours (within 1 hour on auction day, not on the
Sunday).
€uro Currency; We are happy to accept
Euro cash payments in our shop. We display our rate beside the counter.
We
normally allow the market rate rounded down to the next whole penny.
For
example, at the time of writing, the market rate is 0.6875, so we are
allowing
68p per Euro (which is probably better than your bank will give you).
You can
also pay for auction lots in Euro banknotes (postal customers please
confirm
before sending). We also accept payments in our shop in Euros, and we
buy the
old “legacy” currencies, as well as other coins and notes.

over 2,500 GB stamps from 1840 to 2005. It lists regionals, Machins,

Our own view is that it is a much better indicator of market retail
prices than for example SG. Not perfect, but a useful addition to the

CREDIT
CARDS
We are happy to
accept MasterCard and Visa credit card
payments, as well as payments by Maestro and Delta. This facility can
be used
by room purchasers (who pay their accounts at the auction), by other
local
customers (who pay their bill in our shop), and by postal buyers.
In order to deal with postal clients, our bid forms have been designed
to make
space for credit card instructions.
If you want your purchases charged in this way, please complete the
appropriate
section.
Do not complete these
details unless you want to
pay by credit card, and to have the

charges for this service ourselves, and therefore there is no
additional charge
for the use of this facility, as long as postal bidders give us their

advance of posting. Only for postal buyers where card details are
given after
posting, we will charge 1.9% extra
(Visa/MasterCard) or 18p (Maestro
and Delta), plus cost of posting receipt slip.
