Customers should note that pressure of viewing space at our premises will be at more of a premium than usual due to the volume of larger lots. Please make full use of all our advertised viewing opportunities. Saturday can be particularly busy, don’t forget we are open till 8pm on Wednesday, and that viewing is available by appointment on Friday.

We are looking for a strong-backed willing worker to help at this and subsequent auctions from 1.30pm in the afternoon till circa 10.30pm. This might suit a student who is available on Mondays and we pay the national living wage to anyone who does the job, even if they are under 25. 60 British Commonwealth; a valuable collection in 22 various stockbooks (some broken)

and stockalbums, from Queen Victoria (inc. classics) up to late-1960s. Much is useful,

with large numbers of stamps catalogued in pounds, some in tens of pounds. A few countries

not represented. Better countries include Aden & States, Bahrain, Barbuda, Bechuanaland,

Bermuda, Br.Guiana, Br.Honduras, B.I.O.T., Br.Levant, Br. Occ. of Italian Colonies,

Br.Virgin Is., Brunei, Canada and Provinces, Cape of Good Hope, Cayman Is., Ceylon,

Interesting lot, though it presents some hard work, as some are in excellent condition,

most are fine, some a bit lower grade, but also includes damaged items. Some varieties

€uro Currency; We are happy to accept Euro cash payments in our shop. We normally allow the market rate rounded down to the next whole penny. For example, at the time of writing, the market rate is 0.9116, so we are allowing 91p per Euro (which is probably better than your bank will give you). You can also pay for lots in this auction by Euro banknotes (postal customers please confirm before sending). We also accept payments in our shop in Euros, and we buy some old “legacy” currencies, as well as other coins and notes.

The annual subscription for our auction catalogues is currently £10 for inland addresses. If you are not already on our mailing list, please send us £10 with a note of your name and address. Regular bidders and buyers may qualify for free renewal. Rates abroad are European countries £15, Overseas £20.
Successful postal bidders should note that postage stamps are not an acceptable means of paying your account.
Prices realised for this sale will be published with our next catalogue. If you are not normally on our mailing list, the List of Prices Realised can be had by simply sending us a stamped addressed envelope. Alternatively, you can be put on our auction mailing list (see above).

Open Bids (“Buy Bids”) are not normally accepted. If such bids are made, they will be taken to mean a bid of ten times the printed estimate.

Any invoices remaining unpaid fourteen days from the auction date (or after delivery to a postal buyer) will attract interest at the rate of 2% per month or part thereof.

IMPORTANT; Viewing Arrangements for “Not-To-Auction” Lots.

This relates to all lots in this auction which have the “[1a]” symbol in their description, signifying that they will not be taken to the auction venue. It will be arranged so that these lots can be viewed at our shop premises on auction day, and that purchases can be collected that same evening.
{a} In addition to the normal viewing arrangements noted above, any lots marked “[1a]” can be viewed at our smaller shop at 1A Inverleith Gardens, on Monday 26^th August from 3pm to 6.45pm. Should there be pressure on available space, viewing will be at the discretion of our staff.
{b} After purchasing and paying for any “[1a]” lots at the auction venue, customers can take their receipted invoice to our shop and pick up these lots, from 8pm until ten minutes after the last customer has been cleared through accounts.
{c} Customers can still opt to collect their lots from us later in the week during shop opening hours.
{d} There is no parking directly outside 1A, so customers will have to park a little further along Inverleith Gardens. While we can lend you a trolley, there will be no available staff to carry boxes.
