STAMP AUCTION
Monday 23 August 1999

This is the electronic/fax/internet version of our normal paper catalogue. Some changes have been effected so as to save file space and transfer/download time. Illustrations and logos for example have been removed. Although it is not in the easiest form to read, hopefully it will still bring you the information you need. (The first few lots have been tidied up to nearer their original style just to give you a better impression.)

The sale is arranged in the following order;
    Lots 1-88    Collections and Mixed Lots
    Lots 89-128 Literature and Supplies
    Lots 129-172 Non-Philatelic Items
    Lots 173-400 Lots by country A-Z, excluding U.K.
    Lots 401-499 Lots by country, all from one similar property
    Lots 500-589 United Kingdom

The figure at the end of each description is our estimate, in pounds sterling. Bids are accepted above or below this figure, although bids below about 75% or 80% estimate only have a tiny chance of success.

After the main listings you will find various information and instructions. This is followed by a sample bid form, and a copy of the the notes that appear on the reverse of our bid forms.

This is a public auction, in which written/telephone/fax/e-mail bids are also accepted. If you are bidding with us for the first time, please bid by two of these methods with the same bids (e.g. by post and by fax, or by telephone and by e-mail), or bid in good enough time for us to get back in touch with you with any queries.

CREDIT CARDS
We are happy to accept MasterCard and Visa credit card payments, as well as payments by Switch and Delta. This facility can be used by room purchasers (who pay their accounts at the auction), by other local customers (who pay their bill in our shop), and by postal buyers.
In order to deal with postal clients, our bid forms have been redesigned to make space for credit card instructions. If you want your purchases charged in this way, please complete the appropriate section. Do not complete these details unless you want to pay by credit card, and to have the lots posted.
As is standard practice among most auctioneers selling goods on commission, we are not in a position to absorb the bank charges for this service ourselves, and therefore all accounts paid by credit card will be charged 2.75% extra. Switch payments will be subject to a 25p charge per transaction, and Delta 35p per transaction.

 (Photocopies are available, at a charge of 15p per copy.)
Remember the Buy or Bid Sale - bring items along on the night. We will try to sell them for you, at a charge of 10% + 20p (optional insurance 1% extra). Have a look at what’s on offer before and during the main auction. You can buy items outright or place a bid.
